Rynne Tanton
Rynne started potting in the sixties while at Teachers Training College in New Zealand. He studied ceramics in Melbourne Australia and then went on to teach Pottery at tertiary level in Launceston Tasmania. At the same time he started making and selling pottery under the workshop name ‘Crickhollow Pottery’. Physically textured functional pots were the initial focus which developed into visually textured surfaces with glaze on glaze decoration and macro-crystalline glaze effects. Rynne’s work may be found in a number of national and international collections as well as many private collections. Now no longer teaching but working as a full time potter and edging into sculpture with a recently completed bronze foundry.
